Last month MAC decided to launch their Matte Lipstick Collection with a total of 25 shades some of what have been released before as limited editions and some of what are new releases, the good news is that with this launch these shades are here to stay for good as a part of their permanent line. Now no doubt a couple of the most anticipated shades which we were all waiting on were Whirl simply because the Kylie Jenner lip trend left the lip liner sold out for months and would sell out each time it was restocked so well played MAC for bringing out a lipstick version the other shade which most were excited for was stone as it is that nude greyish brown mauve shade.
I previously owned ten shades from when previously released as limited editions and then some where already available as their permanent line. I think Flat Out Fabulous had to be by far one of my favourites and most used out of this lot. Kinda Sexy and Velvet Teddy seem to be my nude favourites. The only thing is I have a love hate relationship with MAC's matte lipsticks the texture is either on point or too stiff i.e. All Fired Up and Flat Out Fabulous can be difficult to work with which is a slight let down All Fired up is the worst for it and you can probably see that from my swatch above it literally just drags on the skin, the only ways I've worked out to work around this by either applying a balm before hand or by warming the lipstick up slightly not like i have time for the second option lol!
These are the new shades I picked up from when this collection has launched. Tropic Tonic is like a pastel coral shade I have been loving shades like this through summer I feel they work a treat when paired with a fresh and dewy base. Whirl is one that I personally think will swing between a pinkish and brownish nude depending on your skin tone, definitely I have warmed to as I wasn't so sure when I first got it, it is the exact same shade as the lip liner. Men Love Mystery I would describe as a lavender purple probably not everyones cup of tea but I like it. D For Danger now this one looks red but I would say it is definitely a more deep raspberry pink this is one of the shades I have really been loving from my newest additions. Finally Stone it is definitely exactly how it is described a greyish brown mauve shade, this I personally feel probably won't be everyones cup of tea, its one of those shades where the whole makeup look has to be balanced around the lipstick without it looking 'off' on you and personally I believe it will be one to suit ladies of a lighter skin tone. However I have to finish with saying I had no problems with the texture of all these new shades I just wish they would change the formula of All Fired Up and Flat Out Fabulous.
