New Release | Lime Crime Utopia Velvetine | Review/Swatches

Just in Sunday's blogger chat I was mentioning how eagerly I was waiting for the Lime Crime Utopia Velvetine to release in the UK only to find out the next day it was available! My love for purple/violet lipsticks is just beyond controllable so when I seen sneak peaks of this on Instagram I knew I had to have it.

When I was talking to a couple of other bloggers regarding this I mentioned one of my concerns which was; purple/violet shade lipsticks are hugely pigmented which brands either get the texture bang on right or terribly wrong so I was excited and intrigued both at the same time to see how well Lime Crime had done with this newest addition to the Velvetines.

I am a sucker for the Velvetines and have them all except the black one, these are to date at the top in my favourite lipsticks they're seriously just so amazing. Now the only Velvetine which has a thicker texture than the rest and doesn't work as well as the rest is Suedeberry which however I still love and it is still acceptable unlike the purple I tried from MUA which literally rubs and crumbles off the lips!

Well I have to say I am beyond ecstatic with Utopia it is perfect, the texture isn't too thick and two layers at the max and this is perfection! The above swatches are without lip liner, I tried to get the swatches as close as possible to how they look in person, the only thing is it is not so neon'ish which makes it more wearable. I played around with the other lipsticks I have sand the one which comes closest to this would be Sleek's Mystic lipstick even then this is much more pigmented and 50% more opaque. I wore this as soon as I receive it yesterday and I'm totally loving it, I hope Lime Crime keep extending their Velvetine range.

Lipstick £13.50

  3. Great review! I'm just scared that I can't carry purple but I'm so tempted to buy this. I did buy kookie from mua and it was just too dark for me. Is it the same colour as mua?

    1. I am not so sure as I haven't seen the MUA version x
