You may remember not so long ago I reviewed quite a few products from Makeup Revolution link and as a part of that review I also featured Makeup Revolution's Velvet Lip Laquer in the shade 'Trying For You' at the time I couldn't help myself thinking over and over just how similar it was to the Lime Crime Red Velvet.

So I decided to do a comparison post and here it is .. Firstly Trying For You is more of a pinky red whereas Red Velvet is a more true, deeper red. I mentioned before the texture on Red Velvet is much thinner than Trying For You which means it took about 3 times longer to dry. However both are very pigmented and took two coats for a perfect opaque finish. Lasting time again Trying For You didn't do so bad and kept up to Red Velvet very well. The finish was bang on the same mattest of mattes. Howwever packaging wise for me Lime Crime is a winner I love how the matte packaging supports the purpose of the product, however the sponge applicators are exactly the same except Makeup Revolutions stick is much longer which is no problem.

Trying For you retails at £3.00 whereas Red Velvet retails at £13.50 I've done the comparison so I'll let you decide if this is a good enough dupe.

    1. A slight difference in shade but nothing to do with the performance etc plus I think it justifies the price difference x
