MAC Stroke Of Midnight Lip Bag: Violet Review/Swatches

MAC Stroke Of Midnight Lip Bag: Violet
As Christmas approaches it brings along lots of limited editions, one them being MAC. I bought 5 kits from the holiday collection which I will be reviewing over the next couple of weeks or so.

Today I am reviewing their MAC Stroke Of Midnight Lip Bag: Violet which comes in a flat zip pouch.
The pouch itself doesn't look so spacy but holds quite a bit, this would be handy to store eye pencils or even brushes, infact one of the brush sets actually comes in the same size/style pouch.

This kit comes with:
Cremeshene Glass in 'Art Of Seduction'
Lipstick in 'Dark Deed'
Lip pencil in 'Vino'

Dark Deed is described as a 'darkened blood red' that is probably exactly how I would describe, I love using 'Rebel' a lot so this is a great option for a little switch, this in a sense is the red version of Rebel but a touch deeper in shade. It comes in the amplified finish so is just about as long lasting as the rest of MAC's amplified lipsticks.

Here is a swatch of Dark Deed layered over with 'Art Of Seduction'. MAC explain Art Of Seduction as 'Cool nude with gold frost' I'd personally found it was more of a clear gloss with slight gold sparkles. It goes great layered over any shade of lipstick which is a bonus and makes lips look plumper as do most other lip glosses. Again this gloss is just like the rest of the range from MAC's Cremesheen Glass collection slightly thick in texture but not so thick to feel sticky.

The lip pencil 'Vino' is a slight darker shade than the lipstick and with the right base could possibly worn on its own, not an option for me as my lips wouldn't get a equal coverage, although this is roughly half the size of MAC's usual eye pencils its definitely a good option for the kit as having the right match to dark lipsticks can be difficult sometimes.

This kit cost me £32.00, the products individually would've been:
Lipstick - £16.50 (roughly the price of a limited edition lipstick)
Cremesheen Glass - £17.50 (permanent line)
Lip pencil £6.00 - (half the price as we only get half the size of a normal lip pencil)

That's a difference of £8.00 and not to forget the bag which is another addition. I am happy with the colours although I wouldn't have called this the 'Violet' lip bag and I'll be getting a lot of use out this lipstick.
