Rihanna's MAC Winter Collection Review/Swatches

Now if I'm honest I'm not a Rihanna fan I like her music but that's as far as it goes, the last time MAC released her summer range I wasn't drawn in at all, then came the clothing release for RI again I don't think it's anything special and then the MAC Winter Collection which is something totally different. The colours I think are unique and the packaging is super cute so for them reasons only I was super excited to get this collection.

The collection wasn't available on MAC Pro so I rung MAC to see what time the collection is live, I was told 11.45 but is it any surprise with MAC that when I checked online just after 11.00 everything was up online and can't have been online for long because everything was in stock only 5 mins later after placing my order 3 things were sold out and with that its no surprise the lippy 'Nude' was very popular as that was first to be sold out on Debenhams as well as MAC, I'm now regretting not picking up a few items for a future giveaway ahhhhhh :(

Left - Nude    Right - Who's That Chick
The packaging is rose gold which I think is totally gorgeous, as for the lippys they come with Rihanna's signature on the lipstick just like the previous ones. The two shades I picked up were 'Nude' which is a matte finish but a very creamy texture that doesn't dry out the lips, the colour is unique it's a lot more of a grey'ish - brown, its very similar to Lime Crime's Chinchilla just more brown. I also got 'Who's That Chick' which is in a frost finish, it appears more orange in the picture but actually has a lot of golden shimmer to it although I think this should have been released for S/S, I still don't mind as I will still wear it. When coming to orange/coral lipsticks I have to be very careful as they can easily clash with my skin tone but this goes just fine, I'm loving both of these colours :)

The next item I picked up was 'Hibiscus Kiss' which is a repromote, now after ordering this I read a lot of negative comments about the bronzer being not so pigmented and a hard coating which forming. Now if I'm honest on first thoughts I was mega impressed the bronzer is very easily buildable, I have noticed a coating forming but I've not had any problems with it so far. The blusher which is a coral-pink is a super gorgeous colour however I do wish it was 50% of each product as I feel I have to get to the edge to pick up the blusher without getting bronzer on my brush too. Generally I quite like this duo so far.

Next up I picked the Cream Colour Base 'Diamonds' thisappeared very brown in the pan when I first received it but once swatched it's like a nude highlighter. This is pretty versatile and can be used as a eyeshadow base, as a highlighter, on the lips or can be used with your base (I don't see myself doing that).
I love cream highlighters and I'll be using this for exactly that again I'm quite pleased with this.

Finally I picked up the blusher 'Bad Girl Gone Good' again this appears very brown in pan but I'd describe this as a brown'ish - copper colour. This shade is perfect for A/W and I've been enjoying wearing it, you have to be very careful as it's very pigmented so I like to use a little and build up without looking like I've got colour-struck cheeks.

I like all the products which I picked they all seem to be sold out now. I haven't checked Debenham's or Selfridges recently so can't speak for them. Did you pick up anything from the collection? Which item is your favourite?

  5. I'm not sure I like the packaging for the lipsticks. They look a bit like a adult toy...... could be embarrassing to take out of your bag !

  8. The packaging is fab but to be completely honest there aren't that many shades that appeal to me. I wanted the eye shadows but they sold out faster than you could say palette :o). Xx
